About DHCC

Established in 2002, Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) is an economic free zone governed by the Dubai Healthcare City authority and regulated by independent body Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory.

Global names such as UK’s Moorfields Eye Hospital, American multinational Johnson & Johnson as well as South Africa’s leading private hospital group Mediclinic have been set up in DHCC.

The first one of its kind in the world, this medical free zone was built for investors in the healthcare and medical industry. They can perform services in research, medical education, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, wellness etc. Professionals working inside DHCC have to meet strict quality standards. The DHCC is located in Oud Metha and is splayed over a gigantic 9 million square feet.

DHCC is divided into four main divisions:

The Healthcare Department

Has more than 120 medical facilities, more than 120 medical centers and diagnostic laboratories with more than 4000 medical professionals.

The Education And Research Department

Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) is the first medical university of Dubai Healthcare City Authority. They offer six postgraduate specialty dentistry programs and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. The university is equipped with the latest practices for research and education. It has dedicated anatomy and research labs as well as the the rare 1867 volume of The Lancet in its permanent collection in the Al Maktoum Medical Library.

The Investment Department

A one-stop solution to set up a business in the free zone. It has clinical, commercial, retail, business centre and free-hold land. The Regulatory Department This department is responsible for licensing healthcare providers and professionals.

Rules Of Company Formation In DHCC

The main requirements for a company formation in DHCC are that business owners or investors who wants to set up a company in this free zone must have two directors and a minimum of one shareholder. An auditor and a manager to manage the company must also be present. The shareholders must live in Dubai and the company should hold a meeting with the shareholders at least once a year.

DHCC does not issue a manufacturing licenses. The operations that are permitted in this free zone are:
